Björn, who sent the previous picture, also sent this picture of a two-compartment outhouse at his childhood home.  Although it's no longer used as an outhouse it illustrates the severity of winters in northern Sweden where being comfortable means keeping out of the cold.  Notice it has thicker walls than what one usually sees on outhouses.

Looking at the beautiful spring-like picture above it's difficult to imagine the hardships people faced years ago when a trip to the outhouse in winter could be life-threatening.
