Alaskan Outhouse
Near Fish Lake

Pix80a

This outhouse is located in south-central Alaska between Sutton and Chickaloon near Fish Lake.  It's perched on a rise above the Matanuska River near the owner's cabin.  The outhouse design is unique and, when you think about it, practical.  There is often not enough shoulder room in a "traditional" outhouse for the large coats, gloves, and assorted clothing a user must remove before he or she can get down to business.  The outhouse was designed to provide that extra shoulder room.  It contains ample space with clothing hooks, a book shelf, a candle shelf for long winter days when the sun barely breaks the horizon, and a divided door so one can enjoy the view without compromising his/her privacy.

The view on the left shows the approach to the outhouse, and the view on the right is the fantastic scene one sees from the outhouse door.  It makes you look forward to your next trip to the outhouse.
